Arkansas Senate Race Summary
by Donlyn Turnbull
Candidates: Republican State Representative Tom Cotton VS Democrat incumbent Senator Mark Pryor
Overview: It’s time to pull out all the stops in Arkansas to defeat the liberal Democrat incumbent Senator Mark Pryor. Currently Arkansas is a toss-up election where the 12-year Senator is vulnerable. It’s great news for conservatives as we march forward to win six seats in the Senate and regain the upper hand to put a stop to this administration’s out of control spending and intrusive policies.
Now is the time to finally vote Mark Pryor OUT, especially since he has voted with Obama over 90% of the time. Pryor would like you to look past his voting record and how much he aligns with the current administration, which is why he’s purposefully kept Obama from campaigning for him in the state.
Mark Pryor voted for and has stood by Obamacare at every turn as he continues to double-down on his support for the bill. With rare exception, he is careful to not use the word “Obamacare,” again carefully distancing him from Obama. It’s all smoke and mirrors.
Pryor has also voted in support for big-government, wasteful-spending, stimulus packages on more than one occasion. He states it was to “create jobs and get the economy moving again.” Yet, Obama’s policies, which are being championed by Pryor, are only leading to more shortcomings in his home state. A report was just released predicting that jobs in Little Rock, AR, the state’s largest city, is projected to be the second worst city for jobs this fall. How is this moving his state “forward?”
Pryor also said, “When Congress increases spending in one area, it must decrease spending in another area,” but his voting record doesn’t reflect that belief. He’s voted right along with Obama during his entire tenure in the Senate allowing the national debt to skyrocket to levels never before seen in United States history. The national debt has increased over $7 trillion dollars! It’s unacceptable and Mark Pryor supporting this is also unacceptable. He said in 2008 that he would remain “committed to balancing our budget,” but that’s the last thing he has done.
In 2002, Mark Pryor stated he believed the so-called “death tax” should be eliminated to help small businesses and family farms, and even campaigned on his desire to eliminate the outrageous tax. Fast forward to the year 2014– Mark Pryor has voted a total of 12 times against repealing or even reducing the death-tax, which would have brought relief to struggling families having to deal with the potential loss of their family businesses and farms.
Mark Pryor’s voting record reveals his habit of saying one thing but voting another.
Here are some of Mark Pryor’s votes:
- Voted YES for Obamacare.
- Voted NO on repealing death-tax.
- Voted NO on paying down federal debt by finding ineffective programs.
- Voted NO on a $40 billion dollar reduction overall federal spending.
- Voted YES for Dodd-Frank.
- Voted YES on $60 billion dollar wasteful stimulus package.
- Voted YES on an additional $825 billion dollars for stimulus funding.
- Voted YES to more wasteful spending by bailing out homeowners.
- Voted YES on allowing lobbyists to still give gifts to Congress.
- Voted YES on extending unemployment benefits allowing people to stay home on the Government’s dime for much longer.
- Voted YES on Congressional pay raises, of course.
Mark Pryor happily takes more of your hard earned income as he continues to spend it unwisely, while keeping more of his own. It’s not right and the time is now to put a stop to it.
That’s why Tea Party Express asks you to make way for Tom Cotton and a new day in the U.S. Senate, where conservatives will finally have the chance to hold the gavel and regain control in the U.S. Senate. It’s time to stop Obama and Harry Reid and their continual bleeding of American Tax Dollars for useless purposes. Let’s seek new solutions which we know will work because they have been time-tested and true and will lead Arkansas as well as the country to prosperity.
Please protect and defend conservative values and vote for Tom Cotton to defeat liberal Mark Pryor on November 4th.
