Tea Party Express Endorses Joni Ernst for U.S. Senate

Sacramento, CA – Tea Party Express, the nation’s largest Tea Party political action committee, proudly endorses Joni Ernst for U.S. Senate.

Tea Party Express’ Executive Director Taylor Budowich said, “Republican voters of Iowa have the chance tomorrow to nominate Joni Ernst—a strong conservative—and turn their focus to defeating liberal Congressman Bruce Braley. It is important to nominate Ernst now, given her substantial lead in all recent primary polling, and avoid a party convention that only gives Braley more time to mount his campaign unimpeded.

“Tea Partiers from across the country are united in an effort to take back the Senate by electing strong, principled conservatives, and Joni Ernst is the clear choice in Iowa’s Republican U.S. Senate Primary. A recent Tea Party Express poll found Joni leading the field with 28.8%, including earning 36.3% of support from self-identified Tea Party supporters. When the undecided vote is proportionally allocated, Ernst earns support from 36.3% of all voters and 38.3% of the Tea Party supporters; pushing herself over the 35% threshold needed to avoid a runoff.

“Republicans have several outstanding candidates in the race, but this is the time to coalesce around the candidate who has developed the most support.  To defeat the liberal Braley, who has already shown his loyalty to trial lawyers over Iowa farmers, it is important that the nomination process end with the Primary tomorrow and an Ernst victory.

“As the Montgomery County Auditor, Joni fought for fiscal responsibility by cutting waste and ensuring accountability. As a state senator, she was a tireless advocate for lower taxes and economic growth—even helping to pass the largest tax cut in Iowa’s history! She also worked to turn a $900 million budget deficit into a $1 billion budget surplus.

“As a Lieutenant Colonel in the Iowa National Guard and a public servant, Joni has proven she is a fearless defender of the Constitution and the conservative principles that our nation was founded on. If elected to the Senate, we are confident she will be a bold leader fighting to reduce the size, cost, and intrusiveness of the federal government,” Budowich concluded.

The nationally recognized polling company, NSON Opinion Strategy in Salt Lake City, Utah, conducted the Tea Party Express poll. The statewide, live caller telephone survey conducted May 23-24 by NSON was of 400 likely Republican primary voters.
