Election Alert: Tea Party Express Endorses Paul Junge and Eric Esshaki for Congress in Michigan

For Immediate Release: October 8, 2020

SACRAMENTO, CA: Tea Party Express, the nation’s largest Tea Party political action committee, is pleased to announce its endorsement of two conservative candidates for Congress in Michigan: Paul Junge in the Eighth District and Eric Esshaki in the 11th District.

Tea Party Express Co-Founder and Chief Strategist Sal Russo said, “Michigan is a key state in conservative efforts to reelect Donald Trump and win control of Congress back from Nancy Pelosi and the far left. Today we are endorsing two committed conservative leaders, Paul Junge and Eric Esshaki, who will go to Congress and fight for the Tea Party values of limited government, economic freedom, and individual liberty.

8th District: “A native Michigander who grew up working in his family’s business, Paul Junge knows how crucial small businesses are to both the economy and the communities they serve. He will support policies in Congress that will help them thrive and create jobs, such as regulatory and tax relief and litigation reform to protect them from frivolous lawsuits. Having served as a deputy district attorney, Paul is committed to keeping our communities safe, including from the violent leftist criminals who are attacking law enforcement and looting businesses. Eighth District constituents deserve commonsense representation in Congress from someone committed to curbing the size, cost, and intrusiveness of government, and Paul will be that breath of fresh air.

11th District: “Eric Esshaki is a political outsider dedicated to the constitutional principles that made America great. The son of an Iraqi immigrant who came to America and opened a successful business, he learned from a young age the value of hard work and the importance of freedom and opportunity. Staunchly opposed to higher taxes and committed to slashing wasteful spending, Eric understands that heavy-handed government endangers our freedom no matter how well intentioned. For example, Eric is a former registered nurse who agrees that government must strike a balance between protecting Americans from the threat of COVID-19 and still encouraging economic activity and job growth. That’s the sort of pragmatic leadership we need in Washington.

“With Michigan’s economy in precarious shape thanks to the coronavirus and years of liberal mismanagement, the last thing hard working families and small businesses need is more taxation, regulations, and failing big government programs. Yet Elissa Slotkin and Haley Stevens support raising taxes and growing an already bloated federal government, which will eliminate jobs and weaken our economy. That’s not what they told voters two years ago, when they portrayed themselves as moderates in order to get elected. The voters have a clear choice in this election between disingenuous liberals doing Nancy Pelosi’s bidding or commonsense leaders like Paul Junge and Eric Esshaki who will fight to ensure all Michiganders have the opportunity to achieve the American Dream,” Russo concluded.
