ELECTION ALERT: Tea Party Express Endorses Young Kim and Michelle Steel for Congress in California

For Immediate Release: September 1, 2020

SACRAMENTO, CA: Tea Party Express, the nation’s largest Tea Party political action committee, is pleased to announce its endorsement of two conservative Congressional candidates in California’s Orange County: Young Kim in the 39th District and Michelle Steel in the 48th District.

Tea Party Express Co-Founder and Chief Strategist Sal Russo said, “We are excited to endorse two Korean- American conservative women, Young Kim and Michelle Steel, who have distinguished themselves as successful leaders in business and public service. They are poised to use their experience and outstanding records to take these two Congressional seats back from the Democrats and the clutches of Nancy Pelosi.

39th District: “A Korean immigrant and small business owner, Young Kim understands how fragile the American Dream is and the importance of fighting to safeguard it. That unique perspective led her to become active in her community and later elected to the State Assembly, where she fought to protect homeowners and defend Proposition 13. She has been a strong advocate for increased STEM education funding, with money going to classrooms and not bureaucrats in Washington or Sacramento. Young has seen how overtaxation and overregulation have hurt California’s hard-working families and entrepreneurs. She will fight alongside President Trump and Congressional conservatives to eliminate these unnecessary burdens and get our economy moving again so Californians can enjoy greater economic opportunity in the future.

48th District: Michelle Steel is a committed conservative leader with a proven record of standing up for California taxpayers and families. In her two terms as a member of the state Board of Equalization and six years on the Orange County Board of Supervisors, she has consistently fought to lower taxes, reform the state’s broken tax code, and improve Orange County’s overburdened infrastructure. Her efforts have resulted in more than $400 million being returned to California taxpayers. We need more commonsense fiscal conservatives like her in Congress fighting to rein in the out-of-control federal spending, lower taxes, and fix our broken healthcare system.

“When Gil Cisneros and Harley Rouda first ran for Congress, they both presented themselves as fiscally conservative moderates who would stand up to the Democratic Party’s progressive wing. However, their records tell a different story. Both have voted almost in lockstep with Nancy Pelosi and AOC, both voted for the sham impeachment of President Trump, and both have stood idly by as violent left-wing thugs loot our cities and attack law enforcement. Cisneros and Rouda are just too extreme for Orange County, and voters cannot trust them to keep their promises. It will take principled leaders fighting to restore fiscal responsibility, economic growth, and law and order to get America back on track, and Young Kim and Michelle Steel will lead the way,” Russo concluded.
