Sacramento, CA: Tea Party Express, the nation’s largest Tea Party political action committee, is pleased to announce its endorsement of Alek Skarlatos for Congress in Oregon’s Fourth Congressional District.

Tea Party Express Co-Founder and Chief Strategist Sal Russo said, “For far too long, Southern Oregon’s needs have been ignored by liberal politicians in Salem and Washington. Alek Skarlatos will be a voice for struggling workers and the industries upon which their livelihoods depend by advocating for lower taxes, smaller government, and individual liberty.

“Alek served his country for five years in the Oregon National Guard, which included a deployment to Afghanistan in the War on Terror. In 2015, he and his two friends stopped a terrorist attack aboard a train bound for Paris, later receiving the United States’ Soldier Medal and recounting his experiences in a subsequent book and movie. An advocate for responsible forest management, Alek has seen firsthand how Oregon’s timber industry has been decimated by onerous environmental regulations and high taxes, resulting in unemployment, poverty, and a worsening opioid crisis. His leadership and forward-thinking conservative ideas are sorely needed in Congress as President Trump and conservatives continue fighting to bring outrageous federal spending under control, empower entrepreneurs and job creators, and drain the swamp.

“As our economy struggles to get moving again, the Democrats have responded by returning to their tired playbook of bigger government and higher taxes. Under a Biden-Harris Administration and a Democratic Congress, these liberals will saddle our country with debt and hamper our economic recovery to give us a government takeover of our healthcare, higher taxes on job creators and struggling families, and more ridiculous environmental regulations. Southern Oregon deserves a Congressman who will fight to create jobs and protect local industries, not a career politician like Peter DeFazio whose only allegiance seems to be to the far left’s big government agenda. We can send leftists like him packing in November by electing conservative leaders like Alek Skarlatos to Congress,” Russo concluded.
